So I have a lot to catch up on!
First, in April, we had company from Michigan...Uncle Denny and Aunt Karen came and spent a week with us! We had such a great time with them!
we spent one of the days at the zoo....just us adults, no kids!
While there, I played around a bit with my camera, testing out some of the various settings, and I got lucky a few times and got a few great shots.
This first one is of the Parrots....this one is in the whole in the tree trunk, looking out among the rest. He looked so "in charge" in there peeking out, watching over his fellow parrots.
In this next picture, I have a picture of one of the "flowers" that was growing on a palm type plant. It wasn't there a couple weeks before when we were there for Easter! So it was neat to see!
Then, we found this "fungus" type stuff growing up on a branch near where the waterfall was. I'm sure it feeds of the water from the waterfall!
We went to the Butterfly house while at the zoo, for the first time! (No one ever wanted to go during any of our previous visits!)
I saw this REALLY vibrantly colored butterfly! I was lucky enough to get off a few good shots with my camera before it flew away!
In there, there is a "pool" of water....that had some leafs and stuff...but it also had some butterflies that had floated down onto the top of the pool in their death. It made for a very interesting picture.
Then, last but not least....while we were in the butterfly house, there were some hummingbirds. They move so fast, and are so hard to get a picture of. I got lucky and got this great shot of a blue throated hummingbird.
CHECK OUT WHAT'S IN IT'S MOUTH!
If you click on the pictures, you can get a larger view...and yep...that's some sort of flying ant or insect in it's mouth! I didn't even KNOW they ate insects! I was amazed that insect was in the mouth, that I had to look it up online, and found that they did indeed eat small insects as well as nectar.
How cool is that?
Anyway, I also did a new card, using one of the new stamp collections in the store, the Honey line, by CC Designs sure has a couple cuties!
The stamp is the Honey Bikini. I colored with copics, and used diamond glaze on the sunglasses. I did the out of bounds technique with the nestabilities. The paper is from my stack I have, by the Paper Studio, called Oops-A Daisy. I took the blue paper in that stack, and then I took a sheet of "Happy Words" rubons from Daisy Buckey, and filled the blue paper with words. I then tore, inked the edges with distress ink, and finised it off with a small scrap of left over brown ribbon that I had.
I'm sending this one to Shirley, for the May RAK!!
Well...that's it for today! I have a lot more, I could really blog about! Since I have been slow on blogging lately!

WOW! you got some amazing photos :) just gorgeous!
ReplyDeletesome real nice photos there. Love the card you made.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are SO neat, Michelle!!!!!!! I bet you love your new camera!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour card is precious! You're so good with copics! Those diamond glaze sunglasses are just too cute!
Thanks for sharing your wonderful pictures and your card for Brandi!
Great pictures, Michelle! I love, love, love my new Panasonic camera. And I haven't even tried any settings besides "auto" LOL. Love your card as well. That stamp is adorable!
ReplyDeleteKelly...me too! I'm very happy with that Lumix! I don't "know" what I'm doing with all the other settings, but I move, change, and try many of them...and get different results!! So I figure, one day, I'll actually learn the settings and how to sue them right, and then I'll be a better picture taker!
