Milo the Christmas Guard Dog

Here is another great Christmas Animals card....and brings a smile to me each time I see it!

I made a bunch of these, they were a bit time consuming, because I used 3 colors of fun flock on it, but were well worth the time invested!

Check out the up close shot!  I used a rhinestone for the collar, Snickerdoodle Smooch for the dog bones, Fun Flock for the Stocking cap and top of the stocking itself...and two colors of fun flock to make the tennis ball!  This card has a ton of textures on it!

The papers used in this card are from SEI: Glitzmas.  The ribbon is from the standard stash I picked up at Michaels or Hobby Lobby!  And I colored Milo with my copics, then cut him out with the nestabilities!

I can't believe we are already past the halfway mark in the first month of the Card a Day Christmas Postings!

Should say...Gone Hunting!

 So, lately, I have been feeling a little bit alone, it's the season!  Adam seems to take every waking moment when he is not at work or doing his college coursework, out hunting!  I didn't have a good hunting stamp, but love this little cutie!  

 

It's one of the Kraftin' Kimmie stamps, by Crissy Armstrong called Gone Fishin'.  I think I'm going to send it to my nephew, as he loves going fishing all the time!

 

 

RECIPE FOR CARD:

PAPERS:  Detail Blending for digi stamp base, scrap paper for the sentiment mounting, Pastiche patterned paper for the background (made by SEI, but I can't find it for sale ANYWHERE!!  I hope it goes on sale somewhere soon!)

 

INKS:  Copics, Memento Ink (Tuxedo Black), Memento Ink (Potters Clay for distressing edges)

 

 DIECUTS: Nestabilities LABELS 1 (for stamped image, I did the embossing with it too, and I used the out of bounds technique, which you can find a video for using through my youtube channel.)

Card a Day Blog - My Little Kitten

So...for many of you that may or may not know, there is a new blog out there, called Card A Day, and each day the designers feature a card they created for your inspiration! 

Today is my turn to submit something for the blog, and my submission theme they gave me was Christmas and Animals!

I have this CUTE little stamp, from Stampavie: Gillian Roberts, called Kitten.

I stamped it, and because I'm making a bunch for holiday cards, I colored it in first using my copics, then I scanned it into my computer, and made a sheet of the same colored stamp!

When I was done, I printed it out, and I used a smooch for the nose and ears, Quickie glue pen on the cuff of the hat and my favorite of late...White Fun Flock!

You can see the up close of the fun flock...it's so nice and fuzzy, I love running my finger across it!

For the papers I used Glitzmas by SEI, and some basic red from my stash!  I also used some of the nestability shapes to create the mat for the card!

This project was fun to make, and because I didn't have to color each one individually, I was able to get 12 cards done in about 3 hours!  More for my holiday stash!

Scrapbook Layout-pages 3&4

So...here are some more of the scrapbook pages I did the other day, this is pages 3&4.

To curl the wings on the butterflys, I used my scissors, and pulled the paper gently across the back side against the blade of my scissors (like when you curl ribbon).  Then, I only taped the centers down.

The kit included some paper doily's.  I think I would rather use some cut out doily from my die cut machine, but because I wanted to get htese projects done quickly, I just used what was in the kit this time!

The papers in this kit are really wonderful, and all done by SEI!

Scrapbooking again....the easy way!

So...I tried to spend some time doing some scrapbooking again!  Only, I'm doing it the easy way for now, because I have a bunch of these SEI kits that I have to put together.

This is one that I think I got back in April of this year, I will be showing the pages over the next couple of weeks, on and off!

This is from a Chintz and Lace collection that they sent out in the April kit.  I haven't added the pictures and journaling yet, I will do that at a later time!

I really love the papers in this kit, they have a lot of dimension to them, and while I wouldn't think to combine those colors, they work well!

All supplies used are SEI!

Advent Calendar #2

First...look at the challenge above...just today and tomorrow to get your project in!

A couple weeks ago, I posted a picture of an advent calendar that I put together, using the Beyond the Page Advent Calendar kit from Kaiser Craft.

I actually had made TWO of them...and here I am finally posting the pictures of the second one.

On this one, I used SEI Alpine Frost collection of papers.  I also treated the box pieces the same way as before, with some Heidi Swap Brown Acrylic paints, then some antique gold rub n buff blended in and swiped, then repeat with some more acrylic paint, to give it an aged look.  On the little boxes, I put rub n buff on the edges, to age them!

Inside each of the boxes, I put a small piece of chocolate and a bible verse reference is glued to the bottom, so each day, you would open the box, the child would get the piece of candy, and then there is a bible verse for you to look up and read as a family. There is enough room in the boxes to hold about 6 hersheys kisses....so you can put a piece of chocolate in each drawer, enough for each child in the family!


I hope to order more of these in, so I can make some more.  They are really beautiful up close, and such a great family keepsake and tradition to do.  Though, I'm pretty picky and detailed, so it did take quite some time to make each one!  Hopefully as I do more of them, they will be quicker to make!  I think the next batch I do, I will make them so that you can put a 5x7 family picture in the center part!

Scrap On!

Color Saturation...

So, the theme over at the Copic Challenge blog this time is color saturation.


It got me thinking....about color techniques, painting and density of color.

One of the hardest things I struggle with is diffusing of color when I'm blending with my copics.  I tend to not lay down enough of the dark color, or if I do a dark/bright color, I have a hard time getting a good shadow effect going.  


Hopefully I did better with this one!!

The picture really doesn't do it justice!  I have this beautiful burgundy glitter, it's a really fine glitter, and I put it on the ornaments....they really "pop" out...unfortunately, all the pretty glitter doesn't photograph well.
